Happy New Year, everyone!
Bring on 2014… I am so looking forward to it and what is to come! Let’s take on a new year and new goals — it is going to be the biggest year yet!
Here are a few tips to systematically work toward your big goals this year.
1. Keep your goals front and center
Create a vision board of how you imagine your life to be by the end of the year. Visualise that life every day and it will happen.
One thing that clearly sticks out to me is that last Christmas (in 2012), I said to my parents, I will be having Christmas next year (2013) in my own home with my own Christmas tree. And before I knew it, I had a new house of my own with a Christmas tree, just how I visualised it… white space and all!
2. Prioritize the biggest goals of the year
Take this first week of January to plan out your year and the top three things you would like to achieve.
It’s important to be clear on what your most important goals are so you can focus. Focus is one quality of an effective business owner, and you want to make sure you’re tackling the right things!
3. Break up your goals into measurable weekly milestones
I always say set a small weekly goal to achieve by each Friday to help you reach the bigger end goal. This will make it easier to conquer your big goals because you’ll always have a specific, bite-sized milestone to hit in just a few days.
As a store owner, some of the things you may want to achieve are acquiring more customers, more orders or more repeat orders from previous customers. Just make sure your goals are measurable.
And remember that it’s okay to make mistakes this year. If you are not making mistakes then you are not learning — but make sure you learn fast and adapt!
